As you all know, I have been deep in creation mode for the past year. As summer winds
down and the inherent grounding of fall arrives, I am inspired to dive into more creativity and curiosity. And for me, this is a form of self care. So, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite recent resources, and I hope they spark that same inner fire for you.
Creating something new this season? Read these:
Atomic Habits by James Clear for tangible, accessible inspiration
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert is the perfect nudge to get you going
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight
Let My People Go Surfing by Yvon Chouinard
The last three books are about wildly different and, in their own way, successful people. What they shared in common was an unwavering commitment to their art, their intention, and their vision.
Tap into your steadfast strength:
Check out Backbody Project’s new Recalibrate program. I teach a few of the practices in this 14-day program, but I am also personally participating in it. Fourteen days of 30-minute practices designed to ground, strengthen, and come back to you!
Carve out space to be in and in awe of nature.
If you live in Portland, the Swifts are currently migrating down south and roosting in the chimney of Chapman Elementary. I go every year, and it’s a truly idyllic little slice of Portland, as well as a welcome to fall.
I also love daily walks to notice the shift in seasons, whether it's the crisp morning air, the leaves changing colors, or the golden light that September brings.
Slow down:
I love taking the nudge from nature to take it slow, by slowing down daily rituals. I've been bundling up and drinking my coffee on the front stoop instead of starting the day scrolling the news.
Each evening I make washing my face a luxurious event by using a gua shua and offering a dose of self massage. I love this one and you can use code ETY10 for a discount!
XO,
Emily
