The truth is, I just kind of happened into a yoga training. I had been practicing for a while and I knew it made me feel good—better than good actually. It brought something intangible to my life, so like a moth to a flame, I kept moving towards the light.
Following that blind intuition changed the course of my life and I wouldn't have been able to do that without a yoga practice.
When you get down to the bones of it, our yoga practice is not a practice of physical ability, it’s not about perfecting shapes with our bodies.
However, those shapes, those poses teach us about how we move through this world, the quality of our breath, the quality of our inner dialogue, the way that we hold on and let go; it’s all discovered on the mat. Yoga, in truth, is a practice of self study.
I received my first 200-hour teaching certification in 2008. I am currently in the process of completing my 500-hour training with Shiva Rea. I specialize in local and international yoga retreats and teach public and private yoga in Portland, Oregon.
